I had this convo with a couple of guys from other teams 2 years ago after the west sayville victory party. They all had different view on each spot.

Well since I am a nozzle man I'm gonna say nozzle, lol. The hydrant is always at the same spot everytime and doesn't move or flip over last second. I've been nozzleman for about a year n half, well attempting to be one, and for the first two drills ago I was going down to break and put the nozzle on and last second the hose flipped from orange to green and I didn't react in time which has never happened to me before and hopefully when I become better little things like that won't matter. I have a long way to go before I am a decent nozzle man, if I ever become one, but I feel that there are a lot more variables that a nozzleman has to worry about than a hydrant man, like is your breaker gettin down quick enough? Is the truck gonna be early? late? Which color is the hose coming up? Don't get me wrong, I am SURE hydrant isn't an EASY spot, like if the driver drops you off late it can be hard to hit the hydrant....like I said, I am pretty new to being a nozzleman, and have a lot to learn, so if anyone wants to give me tips, please do, lol. And if anyone wants to correct me on my theory, please do.

I say Nozzle!!!! Ran nozzle for the westerners for a few years and was real consistent and we ran some great times from 2002 to 2005. However I just started running hydrant for the Rinky Dinks this year and it is a whole new animal. Believe me it's a close second. There is a shit load of intricate details that u need to learn to be able to be good at hydrant. (which I'm not) Kenny by the way you can stop your hose from flipping over right at the end if you pin it correctly and set ur hose bed and breaking length up properly. Patrick Cloudman

The hard part of hydrant has nothing to do with the drops it's the whe getting the coupling on the hydrant thing and pulling the stick. The drops are the same shit and good a good athlete off the back can adjust to the drivers drops. Just my opinion.

Eff nozzle is by far the hardest spot. I agree ran that for 2 years and hit the target about 6 times total.

Nah adapter setter guy... Lol. But actually the hardest spot is dragger.. Most unappreciated spot.. After the run congarts and high fives are given to the hydrant men and breaker and nozzle men but little is said of the guy who let's the hydrant men hit... The hose lay depends on this guy.. If he's too far back or out run is screwed... I had a discussion with Gary Parrish about this years ago../

Patrick Cloudman Thank you Pat, so far that has only happened one time, we always make sure we set our hose in the hose bed the SAME way everytime. But even than, sometimes it comes up orange, sometimes green, I guess it has to do with the truck? Or maybe the back up man? Either way doesn't bother me so it really doesn't matter, just that one time got me when I was ready for orange and it came up green LAST second. Anyway, thanks again, we're a young team and with a lot of practice and desire to get better hopefully we can grow together.
